Stephen Alton

Stephen Alton founded Stephen Alton Architect, P.C. in 1993 in New York City. The firm designs retail, residential and hotel projects worldwide. Alton and the collaborators at his firm possess a broad range of expertise in the fields of architecture and interior design, and have a background in the development of both large and small commercial and residential projects from inception through completion. They possess a deep-seeded philosophical and implemental commitment to each new project, and are known as innovators in lighting design, planning, and for their unique and sensitive uses of materials.

The firm’s projects have received several design awards and other forms of recognition in the USA and Europe. They have been featured on TV and in books and magazines including Terrance Conran’s on Design, Hamptons Havens (Bulfinch Press), Architectural Record, Interior Design, Elle Décor, House and Garden, House Beautiful, I.D. Magazine, Metropolitan Home, and Hamptons Cottages and Gardens. A monograph featuring Alton’s work, titled Architecture: Bodies of Space (USA Books), has recently been published. It is Volume IV of the best-selling series New York Architects.
